Procedure

It is important to consider that the nose is the central element in the face. On the one hand, it modifies the appearance of the whole face but, on the other hand, it must be in harmony with the other elements of the face. For this reason, not only the nose should be studied but also its relationship with the maxillary region as well as the jaw including the chin. With rhinoplasty, the tip can be thinned, the dorsum can be rectified or augmented, the angles of the nose in relation to the forehead or upper lip can be modified and the nostrils can be rectified.

Before and After

In the first consultation, Dr. Rafael Perez will examine the projection of the nose from the functional and aesthetic point of view. If there is a functional alteration, the Doctor will perform a video endoscopic rhinoscopy in the same consultation and once the functional study is done, he will proceed to the aesthetic analysis of the nose with its internal relations and the relationship with the rest of the facial structures. He will guide you about the best option, alternatives, limitations, risks and care you should take. You must inform your Plastic Surgeon about the use of medications, as well as about diseases, facial traumas or previous facial surgeries that may influence the procedure. If you are hypertensive (a) is possible to operate as long as it is controlled. If you have bad scarring, have any other disease, smoke, consume drugs such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamin E, corticosteroids or have spontaneous or prolonged bleeding tell your plastic surgeon.

Finally, please note that all drugs that increase bleeding such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamin E, omega 3, ginkgo biloba and other naturopathic medications should be discontinued.

In most cases, you will come out of the surgery with blocked nostrils, and you will have to breathe through your mouth. You will progressively present facial swelling until the first 4 days and then it will gradually decrease. You must take care of the bandages that were placed by Dr. Rafael Perez and avoid getting them wet or moving them. It is prudent to rest with your head raised during the first day. You should not touch your nose or try to remove the bandages to see the result, this could deteriorate the surgery. Dr. Perez will determine the time of use of bandages and/or nasal casts. The plugs will be removed according to your Plastic Surgeon's instructions, on average 1 to 3 days. Keep in mind that you will not be able to receive sun for 6 weeks and you must use sunscreen for 3 to 6 months.
