FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

  • How important is it to wear post-surgical girdles or garments?

Within the postoperative care of some interventions such as liposculpture and abdominoplasty, among others, is the use of girdles (preso therapy), which have the purpose of exerting moderate pressure on areas that have been 'emptied' or 'detached' by these procedures, in order to keep these resulting spaces 'closed'. The pressure of these elements should always be moderate and monitored periodically by the surgeon, who will recommend the necessary adjustments.

  • How much rest should I have after surgery?

Depending on each operation, rest will be indicated in a more specific way, which can range from three days to ten days according to the patient's metabolism. Rest should not necessarily be absolute, that is, permanent bed rest or relative, in which activities that do not require major effort are recommended and others that do require it are restricted, such as: high impact games, lifting heavy objects and driving, etc. As for physical exercise, this can be resumed around the fourth week approximately, taking into account some variations in this pattern, depending on the type of operation and the behavior of the body of each patient.

  • Liposuction: What techniques exist and how is it performed?

It consists of the infiltration of a sterile solution prepared with saline, adrenaline and local anesthetic. This mixture reduces intraoperative bleeding. Once the infiltration of these substances has been performed, the region is aspirated with fine cannulas (3 and 4 m,m).

  • What is the post-operative period like?

The post-operative period depends on the surgery performed and the indications of the specialist. These are of an outpatient nature and very fast recovery.

  • What implications does Rhinoplasty have on the harmony of my face?

It is important to consider that the nose is the central element in the face. On the one hand, it modifies the appearance of the whole face but, on the other hand, it must be in harmony with the other elements of the face. For this reason, not only the nose should be studied, but also its relationship with the maxillary region as well as the jaw including the chin. With rhinoplasty, the tip can be thinned, the dorsum can be rectified or augmented, the angles of the nose in relation to the forehead or the upper lip can be modified, and the nostrils can be rectified.
